About

Blood Sacrifice

Philadelphia is a blue-collar city as diverse as any city in the United States. Just about every race and ethnicity of Philly can be found in the Philadelphia Police Department. . . often clashing. The once predominantly white male police department was home to Irish and Italian Americans. In the nineties and two-thousands blacks and Hispanics found their way into the department to prejudice and bigotry. And women began to make strides, albeit without great acceptance by their male counterparts. And most recently members of the LGBT community have joined the force or come out of the closet, again to open hostility and bigotry.

We enter the world of the Philadelphia Police Department with Blood Sacrifice.

Thea Hughes is the first openly lesbian graduate of the Philadelphia Police Academy. As she struggles to become a homicide detective she faces open hostility and partners who want nothing to do with her. She and her latest partner, Ariel Dampier, were at loggerheads until a serial killer case dropped into their laps. A naked body of a teen runaway painted with her own blood spurs an investigation by the two. Clues are few and they must sadly wait for a second body to inch closer to the killer. These are two empowered women who have clawed their way to the elite homicide unit. Ariel, bi-racial, faced hostility from both black and white officers. Thea faced backlash due to her gender and sexual identity.

Enter Ali, a runaway with the ability to heal emotionally scarred victims, who is drawn to Philly. She meets Thea, who could be her twin-sister, but knows she will also encounter the “Other” who she soon learns is the serial killer; one she believes she can heal. Can Thea and Ali prevail or will Ali put herself in danger where her life is at stake.
